Diablo 3 Fortune Shrine & Other Shrine Tips

Shrines Are Great For Diablo 3 Farming

Shrine Buffs In Diablo 3 For Farming

While wandering through the dungeons and wilderness areas of Diablo 3, you will encounter 4 types of shrines.  Each of the shrines in Diablo 3 offer a specific character buff that lasts for only two minutes, so you want to use each of the shrines wisely.  There are a total of 4 different shrines that can spawn anywhere in the game.  Of the 4 shrines there are 2 that give the better benefits to farming characters in Diablo 3.

The 4 Diablo 3 Shrines and Effects

  1. Blessed Shrine - Damage taken is reduced by 25% for 2 minutes.
  2. Enlightened Shrine - Gives a 25% bonus to experience for 2 minutes.  NOTE: The Enlightened shrine stops spawning in games where all players and followers are maximum level.
  3. Fortune Shrine - Adds an extra 25% Magic Find and Gold Find for 2 minutes.
  4. Frenzied Shrine - Increases attack speed by 25% for 2 minutes.

The Best Shrine Buffs For Farming

Of the 4 various types of shrines in Diablo 3, two of them provide the best benefits for farming gold and items: the Fortune Shrine and the Frenzied Shrine.  The Enlightened Shrine is great for leveling characters, but provides no benefit for a Diablo 3 farming character.  Similarly, the Blessed Shrine will help reduce your damage taken and help you stay alive, but has no direct effect on your killing speed or the items that your creature kills will drop.  The 2 clear winners here for farming characters are the Fortune Shrine and the Frenzied Shrines.

The Fortune Shrine is an obvious boost to farming in Diablo 3 as you will get a 2 minute buff that increases the amount of gold you will find from all sources by 25% and the Fortune Shrine also increases your Magic Find skill by 25%.  This 25% buff is additive and not multiplicative, so if you have 150% magic find, the new total would be 175% with the Fortune Shrine buff.  It is not an extra 25 percent of your current magic find level.

The Frenzied Shrine also grants another great buff for farming in Diablo 3.  A 25% increased attack speed may even be the better buff between the Frenzied and Fortune Shrines.  While the +25% Magic Find and Gold Find increase is a nice buff, you probably will get better results from the 25% increased attack speed.  Getting a 25% attack speed buff, greatly increases your ability to quickly kill creatures and will help you rack up far more kills during the 2 minute duration of the buff.  this one is great against the Treasure Goblin Clan as well, and greatly increases the odds that you can kill them before they jump through their safety portal.

Tips For Better Shrine Buff Use

  • The Shrines in Diablo 3 work during both solo and cooperative play sessions.  Be sure to notify your party members in co-op, when you find a shrine, because each character that is near the shrine will receive the buff.  Don't waste a shrine on just yourself in a co-op group.
  • Don't waste time looting until your buff is gone.  If you are looting during the buff's short 2 minute duration, then you aren't using the buff wisely.  Go back and loot everything once the duration of the shrine's buff expires.  Of course, if you have Demon Hunter ferrets, they will loot the gold for you.
  • You don't have to get the buff as soon as you find the shrine.  Wait until you find an area that is jam packed full of creatures, then grab the shrine's buff and get to killing.  The more creatures that are packed closer together, means more kills while under the duration of the buff.
  • If using the experience shrine buff or the magic / gold find buff, weaken all of the creatures with a AoE ability first.  Once most creatures are near death, then grab the shrine buff and finish them off.  This allows you to quickly gain the benefits from a large group of nearly dead creatures and increases the overall number of possible kills while under the buff's effects.
  • Don't waste the buffs on boss kills.  Most of the boss battles take a while to complete and odds are the buff will be gone long before the boss dies.  Worse yet, when your character dies, the buff is also removed.  So don't waste the shrine effects in areas where you are having trouble staying alive, unless it is the damage reduction shrine, which may just be the bonus damage prevention you need to get over the hump.

MAKE MONEY ON THE RMAH

As most of you know by now, the Diablo 3 real money auction house is live on North American servers. A lot of players I know have made over $100 already if not more, even some max $250 sales! These were the players that did their research long before the game was released like the members of the private gold forum. Some streamers on twitch have made over $1000 selling gear, flipping, and even their own gear sets. You may say you aren’t like these players, but even my friends who aren’t auction house experts are selling items for $100 or less.

Who buys this crap?

So obviously people are spending real money on these items, even if they aren’t that good or top tier items. Why?! Well there are different categories of players that spend real money in virtual items. Some have more money than time (full time worker with family) so it’s more efficient to go make $20 in an hour and buy a weapon than it is to farm 4 hours to buy that same item. Assuming black market prices of gold being roughly $6 per 1000k (million).
There’s also players that are heavily invested into the game and have no problem spending money on within a game. Much like buying skins in League of Legends or other games with micro-transactions.
Another categories are those that aren’t that informed about the prices and value of items. Most likely casual players that just do a unfiltered search and buy something that “looks good”. Most people are bad at managing their money in life, why would it be any different in a game?
Then we have the pro-auctioneer that buys items to resell for a profit. If something you sold is actually worth more, it could have sold to one of these auctioneers.
Prime example would be my purchase of Natalya’s Gaze for $50. It has dexterity, critical hit chance, and a socket. It is valued at around $150. Item value and worth is one of the most important aspects of the Auction house game. Knowing what an item is worth or how much more a certain affix adds to the value. Just like that demon hunter helm above, most don’t have crit or a socket and are only selling for less than $50. Add desirable stats and all of a suddenly it’s worth over $100. I will be compiling a master list in my upcoming members area soon.

EU RMAH Friday, June 15

EU has to wait a little longer, but pay attention to what sells and what does not on NA. Do as much research as you can as you will have an advantage when the EU RMAH goes live.

$1.25 item prices

Some profits were to be had on the first day before most prices crashed to the $1.25 minimum listing price. Just to clarify, when you sell an item for that little, Blizzards $1 fee turns that into only 25 cents. Even less of you cash out to PayPal with the additional 15% fee from Blizzard and any fees from Paypal.

What sold in the first 48 hours?

From our research and observations, these are the items that have sold and for how much:
High quality legendary/set items: $50-250
Highest DPS weapons: $250
Low DPS weapons: 1.25-10
Vendor Rings: $1.25-7
Magic Find items: $1.25-15
Random items that weren’t even good: $1.25-50

Diablo 3 patch 1.0.3 nerfs %IAS. Dump your attackspeed items now!

D3 Patch 1.0.3 will reduce attack speed percentage severely on items

D3DB have datamined patch notes from the new build. Most of them we know, and I have touched on them earlier. Most notably is the decrease in crafting costs in D3 patch 1.0.3. The biggest change is the jeweler, where the lower level dropped gems will see a serious reduction in their crafting cost. This in turn leads to the potential to make some money on the D3 AH by flipping gems.
However, patch 1.0.3 also sees some changes to %IAS, or % increase attack speed. These items have been really popular on the AH and have really been able to make you some serious money. They were almost too good to be true, and it turns out it was!

%IAS items will be halved in effectiveness

The good folks at D3DB have written out the patchnotes they could datamine out. Most notably they found a 50% reduction in the effectiveness of %IAS items! I knew there were nerfs on the horizon for these items, but a 50% reduction is pretty insane. This is what is going to happen (taken from D3DB):
Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.3 nerfs %IAS or percent increase attack speed
Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.3 will nerf %IAS. Dump your items while you can!
  • Weapons
    • Haste 1: Old: (2-3%) New: (2%)
    • Haste 2: Old: (4-5%) New: (2%)
    • Haste 3: Old: (6-7%) New: (2-3%)
    • Haste 4: Old: (8-9%) New: (2-3%)
    • Haste 5: Old: (10-11%) New: (3-4%)
    • Haste 6: Old: (12-13%) New: (3-4%)
    • Haste 7: Old: (14-15%) New: (5%)
    • Haste 8: Old: (16-17%) New: (6-7%)
    • Haste 9: Old: (18-19%) New: (8-9%)
    • Haste 10: Old: (20-25%) New: (10-11%)
  • Other Types (Rings, Amulet, Gloves, Legendaries)
    • Haste 1: Old: (2-3%) New: (2%)
    • Haste 2: Old: (4-5%) New: (2-3%)
    • Haste 3: Old: (6-7%) New: (3-4%)
    • Haste 4: Old: (8-9%) New: (3-4%)
    • Haste 5: Old: (10-11%) New: (4-5%)
    • Haste 6: Old: (12-13%) New: (5-6%)
    • Haste 7: Old: (14-15%) New: (6-7%)
    • Haste 8: Old: (16-17%) New: (8-9%)
So the %IAS stat is pretty much going to be cut in half. While I don’t think prices will do the same, they will drop as well. It used to be that %IAS was the only stat you should focus on on an item, but now that they are reducing its importance in the overall DPS budget, the money will start to drift towards other DPS items and stats. So you will still be able to sell your %IAS items, you just won’t get the prices you get today.

Act now and sell your %IAS items

Patch 1.0.3 hits late June, so you have a couple of weeks to act. However, a nerf this severe will almost certainly be widely known in the community. So if you are sitting on %IAS items, then start unloading them now! Set very competitive prices and don’t fret about losing 100k on an item…because you stand to lose so much more if you are stuck with them after the patch hits.

Blacksmith recipes will be cheaper to craft

Inferno level Blacksmith crafting recipes will also get cheaper:
Diablo 3 patch 1.0.3 lower costs for blacksmith crafting
Diablo 3 patch 1.0.3 will lower costs for Inferno level blacksmith crafting
While it is always nice to see lower costs on crafting, it won’t really make the blacksmith more viable as a way to make money. It’s more of a gamble and you need to invest heavily in recipes and get lucky when crafting them. And when you pay 30k gold plus mats to try your luck, your costs can quickly spiral out of control! Hopefully, he will come in to his when they buff legendaries after patch 1.0.3.

Powerleveling: Normal/Nightmare/Hell Difficulties 1-60 in 5 hours 188K XP Per Run

This is seriously FAST XP and I fear this will get nerfed very soon, so jump on this as soon as possible!

Here is a new powerleveling area I have recently learned of, much quicker than Azmodan runs that were nerfed hard a few days ago, this can be achieved regardless of what level you are, however you will need someone preferably level 60 to help you with this

This guide will show you how to hand in the same quest multiple times.

Difficulty: Easy
Reward: 188K XP per run! with two people
Requirements: A level 60 friend who can solo hell
Quest: The Black Soulstone -> Soulstone Chamber

Guide:
If you do not have the Black Soulstone -> Soulstone Chamber Quest available, You will have to complete the quest with the Level 60 together at least once to have the quest in your list, the lower level must be able to create the game at that quest for this guide work

  • Now that you have the quest, the person being powerleveled should create the game
  • Level 60 joins game
  • Both take the way point to Archives of Zoltun Kulle,
  • Enter boss area, Have level 60 kill Zoltun Kulle
  • The Level 60 must Leaves the game(this is why the lower level must create the game, if the level 60 created the game and then left, all players will be booted from the game)
  • Level 60 then clicks resume game at main menu
  • Lower level in his current game player clicks on the soulstone hands in quest after doing so then joins the level 60s new game
  • Both click on soulstone and hands in quest
The example above shows how you can hand in the same quest twice for one run.

More Than 2 Players?:

For those who aren't satisfied with the above and wondering what happens when there are 3 or 4 people parties.

Players: P1,P2,P3,P4
  1.    All kill Zoltun Kulle, P2,P3,P4 leave before clicking on soul and each person click resume game on main menu
  2.     P1 picks up souls in their game, turn in quest
  3.     P1,  joins P2's game, P1 and P2 picks up soul and turn in quest
  4.     P1 and P2 joins P3's game, all 3 picks up soul and turn in quest
  5.     P1, P2 and P3 join P4's game all picks up soul and turn in quest
P1 gets 4 turn ins, P2 gets 3 turn ins,
P3 gets 2 turn ins
P4 gets 1 turn in

Its ideal to have the Level 60 be P4 and the party should rotate between who is P1
although you can do this with 4 players, the fastest and most effective way is 2/3 player parties
