MAKE MONEY ON THE RMAH

As most of you know by now, the Diablo 3 real money auction house is live on North American servers. A lot of players I know have made over $100 already if not more, even some max $250 sales! These were the players that did their research long before the game was released like the members of the private gold forum. Some streamers on twitch have made over $1000 selling gear, flipping, and even their own gear sets. You may say you aren’t like these players, but even my friends who aren’t auction house experts are selling items for $100 or less.

Who buys this crap?

So obviously people are spending real money on these items, even if they aren’t that good or top tier items. Why?! Well there are different categories of players that spend real money in virtual items. Some have more money than time (full time worker with family) so it’s more efficient to go make $20 in an hour and buy a weapon than it is to farm 4 hours to buy that same item. Assuming black market prices of gold being roughly $6 per 1000k (million).
There’s also players that are heavily invested into the game and have no problem spending money on within a game. Much like buying skins in League of Legends or other games with micro-transactions.
Another categories are those that aren’t that informed about the prices and value of items. Most likely casual players that just do a unfiltered search and buy something that “looks good”. Most people are bad at managing their money in life, why would it be any different in a game?
Then we have the pro-auctioneer that buys items to resell for a profit. If something you sold is actually worth more, it could have sold to one of these auctioneers.
Prime example would be my purchase of Natalya’s Gaze for $50. It has dexterity, critical hit chance, and a socket. It is valued at around $150. Item value and worth is one of the most important aspects of the Auction house game. Knowing what an item is worth or how much more a certain affix adds to the value. Just like that demon hunter helm above, most don’t have crit or a socket and are only selling for less than $50. Add desirable stats and all of a suddenly it’s worth over $100. I will be compiling a master list in my upcoming members area soon.

EU RMAH Friday, June 15

EU has to wait a little longer, but pay attention to what sells and what does not on NA. Do as much research as you can as you will have an advantage when the EU RMAH goes live.

$1.25 item prices

Some profits were to be had on the first day before most prices crashed to the $1.25 minimum listing price. Just to clarify, when you sell an item for that little, Blizzards $1 fee turns that into only 25 cents. Even less of you cash out to PayPal with the additional 15% fee from Blizzard and any fees from Paypal.

What sold in the first 48 hours?

From our research and observations, these are the items that have sold and for how much:
High quality legendary/set items: $50-250
Highest DPS weapons: $250
Low DPS weapons: 1.25-10
Vendor Rings: $1.25-7
Magic Find items: $1.25-15
Random items that weren’t even good: $1.25-50
